Defoamers (Textile Chemical)

Defoamers

A defoamer is a chemical additive that reduces or eliminates foam in industrial processes. Defoamers are often used in the textile industry to remove foam from wet processing. Foam can affect production capacity and product quality.

Defoamers used as a de-aerator cum antifoam in extreme conditions such as high temperature, alkali & electrolytes and a wide range of pH.

Defoamers can be applied in each process. Weaving and sizing generally require sizing during weaving and finishing. These macromolecular substances are prone to foam in the slurry, which affects the penetration and makes the sizing uneven. Weaving sizing requires low foam or no foam, and there is a lot of demand for defoamers. In particular, acrylic synthetic chemical slurries for chemical fiber and silk contain emulsifiers that are easy to foam. Generally, defoamers are added.

Characteristics Of Defoamers :

  • Good diffusibility and permeability

  • Fast defoaming and good foam suppression performance.

  • Does not affect the basic properties of the foaming system.

What Is Defoamers In Textile Industry?

Defoamers are foam control agents which are added to a system to reduce or eliminate foam after it has been formed.

Purpose Of Defoamers In Textile Industry?

Defoamers are used in the textile industry to help manage foam. Foam can build up during textile processing steps like dyeing and printing, which can affect production capacity and product quality.
